I’m so excited to be part of a new challenge! A group of my DIY/home decor blogger friends have gotten together to form the Dollar Store Design Squad! On the first Friday of even months, the Squad will post a project completed using materials found at a dollar store – how fun is that?!?

This month’s challenge has a holiday theme, but I picked something that would be great for guests coming for the holidays and all year round: a pretty bathroom tray for soaps and candles.

Would you believe this was constructed from stuff I found at the dollar store?!?

I started with a “silver” tray and four “crystal” candlesticks:

So, I’m $5 in for this project so far.

I evenly spaced out the candlesticks and glued them to the underside of the tray with this kind of epoxy, which I’ve used for other projects, such as my old-door-turned-memo-board.

Then I used heavy books (cookbooks work great!) to weigh the tray down and let the epoxy set.

Once the epoxy was dry, I had a cute little bathroom tray for our guest bath!

Since I only spent $5, I decided to splurge another buck and get this cute heart-shaped bowl for the soaps!

I know – I’m such a big spender!

I love my little dollar store bathroom tray!

This is such a cute idea. I can always use more organization in my powder room, and this would be perfect!
