You can find encouragement in the darnedest places. Today, I found hope in a paint can.
Lately, a lot of not-so-great stuff has been going on (I wrote about it HERE). Plus, on Thursday, I was bitten by something (I think a spider or three) and had an allergic reaction, which isn’t pretty (just ask Julie & Lesley, my sweet friends who took care of me at a conference the last time it happened). Then I got my first ever ticket. First. Ever. Sigh.
Today, Dear Husband took the kiddos to the movies and I decided it was FINALLY time to finish the laundry room. It’s been in this state since before Hank had his surgery:
I’m so close to being done! Just had to finish painting the trim and doors. So, I decided to do that while the rest of the fam went to the movies.
The paint wasn’t covering well. There were drips. I was starting to get grumbly. And then it happened.
The paint can tipped over.
You know how, in movies, the bad thing happens in super slo mo with the character it’s happening to screaming “Noooooooooo” in super duper slo mo? That’s what happened. But then, a miracle…
I caught the can!
I did. I caught it. I had cat-like reflexes!
Only two globs of paint fell on the floor, and they landed on the dropcloth! That’s when I knew.
Things are looking up. Starting now.
If you need some hope, if you need some encouragement – and I did – it’s there. In something as simple as a can of paint. It will appear to you and you will go, “AHA! There it is!” And then it’ll get better.
With hope,
