We made it to another Friday! Wahoo! Today’s Friday Five focuses on one of my favorite things: vintage Coke (or any other soda – but, here in Atlanta, it’s all Coke) crates. They can be re-used in so many ways. Here are five ways to use a Coke crate in your home.

1. Spice Rack

If you can find a crate with dividers still in it, then use it for a spice rack. The divided areas – formerly for the soda bottles – are the perfect space for spice bottles. Just add a label to the top of each bottle so you can see what’s in it.

2. Craft Caddy

The slots in a Coke crate are perfect for corralling paint brushes, paint pens, markers, and other craft supplies. I like having all of my supplies where I can see them and reach them easily. The crate is the perfect solution.

3. Remote Controls Under Control

We have a TON of remote controls: one for the TV, one for the cable box, one for the DVD player, game controllers for the Wii, etc. And – it’s funny – no one could ever find the remote they were looking for! This way, they are all in one place and easy to find.

4. Coffee Table Catch-All

I keep a Coke crate on our living room coffee table. It holds magazines, coasters, and a remote control. It’s a fun way to keep that stuff from being scattered all over the table.

5. Serve It Up!

You can use a crate for a buffet server.

It’s the perfect size to hold plates, napkins, and some jars with silverware in them.
