We got the best housewarming present ever from the previous owners of this house!
Of course, the cookies and brownies from our neighbors were amazingly wonderful, too, but this gift was right up my alley. The former owner gave us the architectural plans for our house, from when the addition was built twenty-four years ago.
In addition, she wrote us a long letter explaining the history of our home. We are only the fifth owners of this home, which is incredible because it was built in 1929!
I love the architectural drawings – the graphics, the history, the design elements – all of it. I knew I needed to give them a place of honor in our home.
So, I decided to frame them and hang them in our family room.
After all, they are art.
I just used two frames from IKEA. Could not have been easier.
When you think about hanging “art” in your home, think outside the traditional idea of art as paintings or sculpture. Art can be anything that you appreciate – whether it be an architectural drawing or a kid’s artwork or record albums… Anything that makes you happy when you look at it!
