In so many ways, the month of June begins a new chapter in my life. My teaching duties are complete and I am on a leave of absence from teaching for one year. For the next year, I am going to focus on this blog, my family, and me.
I’m pretty sure that this is what is also known as a mid-life crisis, but “new chapter” sounds so much more hopeful and less catastrophic.
And I’m not the only one. Many of my friends are turning pages to a new chapter in their lives, too. My friend Cris is moving and is following her passion in a new career. My friend Amy is moving to a new state and starting a new job. My friend Cynthia is starting the next iteration of her life. Many friends are moving into new homes, new jobs, new locations, new relationships.
Change is in the air, friends.
The funny thing is that I used to fear change. I ordered the same thing from our neighborhood Chinese restaurant for years. I found shoes that fit and bought them in three colors.
I seem to be more willing to embrace change now. At first, I was a little scared about taking a leave of absence from teaching. After all, I had been teaching for twelve years, and practicing law before that for almost six. But I am excited – actually, giddy – about trying something new, especially when it involves my passion: DIY, home decor, home improvement.
It’s never too late to have a life and never too late to change one.
So now the new chapter begins! Here are some things coming up at HQ that I’ll be sharing with you:
(1) We decided to hold off on fully renovating the master bathroom. Long story why. Anyway, I’m going to do some low-cost, high-impact changes in that bathroom and I’ll show you what I’m doing.
(2) I have to finish the Great Room Move-Around. Painting to be done, mainly. But other projects, too.
(3) YARD WORK! As I’ve been focusing on the interior of our home, the exterior looks woefully neglected. Time to get out and dig in the dirt.
So, that’s what’s on deck here at Dogs Don’t Eat Pizza. I’m excited and can’t wait to share some new projects with you.
I hope you are doing well. Do you have any changes going on in your life? If so, share! We’re all in this together, friends.
