This time on Sunday is my version of “church.” While my children are in Sunday school, I relish this time on Sunday morning to enjoy coffee (natch), plan my week, get organized, and breathe.
Breathing is good. (I always remember those admonitions from the Jane Fonda workout tapes – yes, I’m that old – “Don’t forget to breathe.”)
So, while I’m breathing and planning and regrouping, I thought I should explain what’s been going on with the blog. You might have noticed that “The Tuesday Talk,” the “Throwback Thursday” link party, “Finish It Friday,” and “Scene on Saturday” have gone by the wayside. Let me ‘splain.
Part of the reason, in all honesty, is that there just hasn’t been time. This is the time in the spring semester of my day job that is really busy for me (for a minute, it occurred to me to write “this is the spring of our discontent….” But I digress.). I would rather just post when I have a good project or something to say than just post because, well, it’s Tuesday. The link party was time-consuming to make happen, and my Fridays kind of evaporated. It’s not a good excuse, but it’s the one I’ve got.
The other reason that I decided to (at least temporarily) abandon those posts is that I wanted to make sure I posted content that I wanted to post and that you wanted to read. For me, that meant continuing with DIY posts, but also including more personal posts. After all, we’ve become friends over these last two and a half years, and I want you to know who I am.
Now that the school year is winding down, I’m thinking about which of those series really added value to the blog and therefore for you. Of these, my opinion is that Finish It Friday was the best. It was good for me because I actually finished something that had been lingering for some time; for you, it was a story about another project you could do in your home, too. I also liked Scene on Saturday, because I liked capturing design in everyday places and playing with my fancy-pants camera.
I’d like to hear from you, though. Which did you like best? Which one(s) would you like me to continue? Inquiring minds want to know.
In the meantime, I’ll keep writing…and breathing.
As always, thank you for stopping by.
