Happy Monday! We had a house full of guests this weekend and I think we’re all still recovering. Remember how I said I did a lot before the guests arrived? Well, this week, I’ll show you those projects, starting with getting the guest room ready for our guests. In true Dogs Don’t Eat Pizza fashion, I couldn’t just vacuum and dust to get ready. Oh no. I redid the guest room.

Here’s what I started with:

Clearly I needed to clean up and put things away, but I also decided to recover the headboard and change the rug.

Once I changed the fabric on the headboard (it’s from JoAnn Fabric, FYI), I wanted to change the duvet cover and shams as well. (I also bought a new duvet for my father-in-law, who is always cold.)

It was so easy to change out the fabric on this upholstered headboard – just unscrew the board from the headboard frame, remove the old fabric, then staple the new fabric to the board and put it back. (Here’s the post about how I changed the headboard to begin with.)
The rug was in the dining room before I redid that room, too.

My desk area before:

Such a mess. Now it’s functional, clean, and organized:

I also retiled the vanity area. You may remember that the vanity area was my craft area, but I decided it was too small of an area for that. I had added peel and stick tiles to the area, then removed them, but underneath was ugly linoleum and I didn’t want to pull that up. So, I retiled the area with more contemporary-looking rectangular tiles:

Still peel and stick, but I grouted them this time and it looks more like regular porcelain tile and will hopefully be more durable.
I moved the Expedit that was in the dining room into the guest room for storage for my craft and DIY materials:

And the guest room is done – ready for company!

Hope you all had a wonderful Thankgiving!
