Thirty Days of Gratitude, Day 1: Coffee

Yes, I’m starting with coffee this year. (It was day 3’s winner last year.) Why? Because last night was Halloween, I have a pile of papers to grade, and I’m pooped. Coffee is just plain necessary right now.

Love my scrabble mug, too.

I do love my coffee – I take it with just a little splash of milk. It’s a necessary part of my morning routine. Last year, I wrote this poem and I think it captures how thankful I am for my cup o’ joe:

Oh coffee, how I love thee.
You help me out when I’m sleepy.
You’re dark and roasty,
You make me warm and toasty,
Get in my mug right now.

What are you grateful for today?

This may sound odd, but I’m very grateful for our area’s new Wal-Mart. Many people in our community are living on limited incomes, as are we. I can say without exaggeration, that Wal-Mart saves us from $25 – $45 a week on our groceries and household needs, in comparison to what we had to pay previously for the same items. That is a big monthly savings, providing extra dollars that can go to other payments. So yes, I am greatful for our new Wal-Mart 🙂

You know what? If it saves you money, then I think that’s a whole lotta good to be grateful for! (I missed you on the Tuesday Talk – was wondering if you were doing ok!) Thanks, Cheryl, for sharing that.

Karen, now it’s Tuesday again, but haven’t seen any new posts from you. So now I’m the one wondering if you’re OK.

        Hope so.
